Pudsey Reach Semi Final

It was cup week in the Leeds League this week and Pudsey J from division six created a shock win in the Norman Smith cup to reach the semi- finals.
The J team consisting of Fourteen year olds Reece Bell and Reuben Hainsworth and 12 year old Edward Hollingsworth faced a highly experienced Leeds Judean side from division five. Harvey Dick gave Leeds Judean the lead with a tight win over Bell but Pudsey responded with two comfortable wins for Hollingsworth and Hainsworth. Dick levelled the match for Judean before O Brien saw of Reece 14-12 in the fifth. Pudsey took the next two games to lead 4-3 to set up the clash of the two undefeated players Hollingsworth and Dick. First end to Dick 13-11, second end to Hollingsworth 12-10 and with a mixture of good topspins and good hitting Hollingsworth came thru to win the next two sets to put Pudsey in the Semi-final.
In the FM Carr Trophy Pudsey G from division four suffered a 5-3 defeat to a Leeds Judean side from Division three but it was tight match all the way. The A team in Division one reached the semi- final as Lawnswood YMCA conceded.
Pudsey Cadet Girls Ellen Auty and Nicole Finn were part of the Yorkshire cadet team at the weekend in Draycott. Ellen on debut winning two of her matches against higher ranked opposition. Nicole winning all her matches as the Yorkshire team won all three of their matches.
