MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
CHAIRMAN’S REMARKS – 24th January 2008
Happy New Year to one and all and as 2008 gets underway the club is once more figuring prominently in all competitions. The A team lead Division 1 thanks to a thrilling 7-3 victory over Dewsbury A. Also setting the local league on fire are the E and F teams who have been head to head most of the season for the Division 3 championship. Our H team, in Division 4, are level on points but lie second on sets whilst the J team are current leaders in Division 6 where the K and L teams all new to league competitions are going from strength to strength as they gain that all invaluable experience that can only come from putting yourself into competitive situations on a weekly basis.
The British League sides are also doing well. The senior side are second only four sets behind the leaders and when the top two meet for the second time over the weekend of 17th/18th February a repeat performance of the first match can see the Pudsey side top the division and gaining promotion. British Junior League side made a reasonable debut performance and currently lie 3rd after the first weekend and will be hoping to contest a promotion spot.
In the cadet league our two teams have struggled in terms of results but individually all are gaining valuable match practice. With many of tour cadets another three years in this age category the future looks bright.
We are looking to hold a club championships day sometime in April, the venue yet to be finalised so keep your diary open and ready.
We are getting a few more practising on Fridays so please feel free to join us and have a chat and drink in the bar afterwards.
