Samantha Wins Silver
Pudsey Table Tennis Club’s Samantha Parker had a fantastic start in her debut on the Yorkshire Two star tournament series held at Halifax on Saturday. Samantha played a round robin event in the Under-13’s winning six matches and only lost one to the eventual winner. Samantha looks to be one of the new emerging stars from the Pudsey coaching system as this follows up her recent good cadet league performances. Brother Michael also had some good wins as he finished in the top four of his group in the corresponding Under-13 boys event.
In the FM Carr trophy in Leeds this week Pudsey H lost the opening game as Armley’s Keith Bisby got the better of 15 year old Reece Bell 14-12 in the fifth. Pudsey went two down before Veteran John Priestley pulled one back. Pudsey then went 3-1 down before Reece made it 3-2. Priestley levelled the match score before 13 year old Edward Hollingsworth gave Pudsey the lead 4-3 with a three hard-fought sets win over Terry Walls (12-10, 13-11, 18-16). Priestley was in no mood to let the lead slip away and wrapped up his side’s cup win 5-3 with a four set win over Bisby.
In the Norman smith cup Pudsey K found the strong Sulzer team too good as they crashed out of the cup 5-1 with Elana McClements winning the one game.
