Pudsey Snatch Draw From Jaws of Victory
Five weeks into the season Pudsey F in division three must have thought their first victory was about to be achieved after the first four games. They had established a 4-0 lead over their opponents Leeds Judean G with all the games won in three straight sets. The doubles went the way of Judean in five set as they made the match score 4-1. Normal service was resumed as Richard Laws won in three straight sets to give Pudsey at least a draw. However in the next match Pudsey lost a close game as John Dasoalo lost 8 in the fifth to Michael Kessler. This was as near as it got for Pudsey as they dropped the next three matches to end up with a draw when victory looked a formality at 5-1.
Pudsey's B team in division one continue in their bid to take the title away from the A team with a 9-1 victory over Victoria. Here Chris Parker continued his good start to the season winning three along with Phil Cawser and two wins for Doug Bartle.
In division two the E team continued their good form with a 7-3 victory over Victoria. With five of the matches being decided in the fifth end Pudsey winning the doubles was probably the key game. Richard Ball winning three and David Noutch two and these combined to take the doubles.
In division four the derby between the H and I team ended up going to form with the H team winning 7-3. Here two wins each for John Priestley, Edward Hollingsworth and Granville Thornton. For the I team Maurice Wrigley can be pleased with his individual performance winning all three of his games.
