Lukasz Shines on Debut

Pudsey G gained their first win of the season at the sixth time of asking this week thanks to a fine debut by new signing Lukasz. The G team found themselves 2-0 nil down to the F team, but Steve Smith pulled one game back for Pudsey beating Peter Greasley in four sets. Lukasz then beat the club chairmen Paul Dykes in three sets to level the match before he combined with Smith to take the doubles. The G team including Linda Sanderson then reeled of the next five matches to win 8-2.

Pudsey’s B team continue their fine start to the season winning this week 8-2 over Leeds Judean. Three wins for Chris Parker and two wins each for Nicola Smith and Phil Cawser. The A team won 9-1 this week and continue to top the table, but only on sets from the B team.

In division two the D team gained 6-4 victory over Yorkshire Bank in a late night finish.  With Pudsey trailing 4-3 and with Nicole Finn 2-0 down against John Cawthorne victory looked impossible. Nicole managed to turn her game round to win 3-2. Then John Thaxter got the better of Tom Taylor in the fifth set. This set up the clash of the unbeaten players John Ainley for Pudsey and Trevor Fletcher for the Bank and it was Ainley who triumphed in another fifth-end thriller.

Also in division two wins each for Sandra Rider and Dave Clarke were not enough for Pudsey E as they lost to Scarcroft 6-4. Pudsey C are finding life hard in Division one and lost this week 7-3 with two wins for Lee Orange and one for Chris Newsome.
