James Produces Surprise Win
Pudsey’s B team Junior James Atkins produced the surprise win of the season so far in their victory over Leeds Judean A in division one this week. Yorkshire veteran Ivan Lewis was riding high in the individual averages in the league this season but James hit his best performance of the season to win in five sets. This helped Pudsey to a comfortable 7-3 victory as both Chris Parker and Phil Cawser won two each, both losing to Lewis. Also in division one Pudsey A team continue to lead the table with Simon Pugh winning all three as Pudsey ran out 8-2 winners over Leeds YMCA.
In division two the E team gained a priceless point with a draw with Leeds YMCA B. In a strange game that saw YMCA take the opening two sets. Pudsey responded with the next five sets only for the YMCA to take the next three. No luck for the D team this week crashing 7-3 to Dewsbury D despite John Ainley winning all three.
Having gained their first win last week Pudsey G continued with a 10-0 victory this week over Acre Farm Rovers. Pudsey H team lost 6-4 to a very experienced YMCA D team but Junior Reuben Hainsworth would have been pleased with his four set win over David Wilson.
Another good performance from one of Pudsey youngsters in division six as cadet boy Tim McDonald won all three to help the K team to a 9-1 victory over Alwoodley. Here three wins also for Mike Noble and two for Elana McClements.
