Hollingsworth Hits the Heights

In the Leeds league this week another victory for Pudsey A as they continue their march to the title once more. This week saw them victorious 8-2 over the C team. This routine score-line hides the shock individual win of the season. The A team were a player short and with a lot of Pudsey sides in action, thirteen year old Edward Hollingsworth from the H  team in division 4 was selected by the coaching staff to go and get some experience. Losing his opening game to Phil Lowe in three straight sets he then faced Chris Newsome. Winning the opening leg surprisingly 11-5 and with Chris hitting back to the second 11-1 it was to be expected that Chris would run out a comfortable winner. However Edward’s unflappable approach to the game showed as he took the third 11-9 with Chris levelling the match to 2-2. However the youngster was not to be denied his first ever victory in division one with an 11-6 win in the fifth end.

Division one also saw the B team getting back on winning ways over Leeds Judean. The B team were pushing the A team up all the way until the New Year but had suffered two consecutive losses. Phil Cawser lead the way with three individual wins.

Division four saw a fine 6-4 victory for Pudsey H over Armley with all three players winning two matches. The turning point was Reuben Hainsworth’s 12-10 fifth end victory over Terry Walls.
