Pudsey "A" March On

In the Leeds league this week Pudsey A continued their unbeaten run with a 6-4 win over Victoria B. Pudsey were made to work for the win but a combined team effort from all three players, Joanna Roberts, Rich Smith and Chris Parker each winning two, saw Pudsey home.

In division two Pudsey D team gained a valuable point in their relegation battle. They made a good start with John Thaxter winning the opening match in three straight sets over John Cawthorne. Yorkshire Bank responded taking the next five sets to lead 5-1. Rudi Itoe won in five over Trevor Fletcher to start the Pudsey comeback. Nicole Finn surprisingly got the better of the Tom Taylor in three straight sets as Pudsey took the last four sets to get a draw.

Lower down the league it was a poor week for Pudsey teams. In division four the H team crashed 8-2 to Leeds Judean though a good individual performance from junior Reuben Hainsworth in winning both games. In division five the J team lost 7-3 with two wins for Bryn Gaines and one for Adrian Dodd. In six the K team was on the wrong end of a 6-4 score line with a win each for Mike Noble, Jack Taylor and Tim Mcdonald.

It was the final weekend of the cadet league in Rotherham and Pudsey cadets finished outside the medals. The A team who were lying in second place going into the weekend lost all three matches. The B team won two and lost one match. Ben Roberts produced a shock victory over the unbeaten Alex Tilley from Sheffield. Also brother and sister Michael Parker and Samantha Parker had a couple of fine individual wins.
