Shristi Wins in Burton on Trent
Ten year old Shristi Ghosh made the short trip down the motorway to Burton on Trent on Sunday to compete in The Burton Uxbridge 2 star tournament. She competed in three age groups of under11, 13 and 15. In the under 13 event she finished runner up to Yorkshire’s Imogen Barber currently ranked England 4 at this age group. Shristi current Yorkshire under 11 champion made no mistake in the final of the under 11 event winning the final by three sets to nil.
In the Leeds League this week in Division two saw Pudsey C, D and F teams all involve in close games. Pudsey C got the better of Dewsbury D 7-3 which saw Richard Ball continuing his impressive start to the season winning all three and combining with Lee Orange for the doubles. Nicole Finn winning two and Lee the other singles matches. The D team were on the wrong end of a 6-4 score line against New Farnley. Two wins here for Mick Lowe, and one each for Sandra Rider and Lukasz Karasinski. Pudsey suffering with four of the matches lost in the fifth end. The F team was on the right end of a 6-4 score line over YMCA as Richard McCarthy took all three singles with son Jake and Steve Winnard winning a singles each.
Division 4 also saw a 6-4 score line as Pudsey H lost to Lawnswood E with Two wins here for Granville Thornton and one each for Maurice Wrigley and John Priestley. Pudsey losing the last match 11-6 as Priestley failed to get the better of Martin Grayson in the fifth end.
