Silver at the Leeds Junior Tournament
It was the Leeds Junior One Star tournament this Saturday held at Richmond Hill sport centre. This standard of tournament is designed to give up-and-coming cadet and juniors an opportunity. Pudsey entered three of its young cadets in brother and Sister Michael and Samantha Parker along with Liam Linley and Eden Philpott who attends Leeds coaching sessions at Richmond Hill. An unfortunate draw meant Liam and Michael were put in the same group, with Michael getting the better of Liam in a tight fifth end. Neither of the boys made it through the group stage but put up creditable performances. In the under 15 girls Eden on her debut tournament managed to win one and came very close to winning a second as she showed that with more experience she will compete successfully at this level.
Pride of Place among the Pudsey cadets went to Sammy Parker who won the Silver medal finishing as runner up in the under 18 girls despite losing her first match to eventual winner Roseanne Hurst from Barnsley.
In the Leeds League it was a good week for Pudsey teams who were playing at home. The C team who currently lead division two had a surprisingly comfortable 9-1 win over Yorkshire Bank with only the doubles lost. Another team doing well in division two is Pudsey F and despite Derek Greenwood taking all three for Victoria Yeadon it was an all round team performance as Pudsey won 7-3. Richard and Jake McCarthy took two each and Steve Winnard two with Steve and Jake combining to take the doubles.
In division six Pudsey K were also in fine form as they comfortably got the better of Alwoodley 8-2. Here three wins each for Andy Hodgson and Bryn Gaines and a win for Elana McClements with Andy and Bryn combining to take the doubles.
