Girl Power Leads Cadets to Runners Up

It was the last weekend of the National cadet League on Sunday in Wath-on Dearne. Pudsey B team of Nicole Finn, Neil Dattani and Wayne Pattison produced a string of unbeaten results to finish runners up in division two. They won 4-2 over Scunthorpe with Nicole leading the way with two wins and one each for the boys. Nicole showed that she was a match for the boys as a similar result was achieved against Sheffield dragons. Next Pudsey gained a comfortable 6-0 win over Dearne Valley. A hard fought 3-3 draw followed against Bradford Fastbat’s with one win each for the players. Last match on Pudsey faced equal top of the table Market Rasen. In a hard fought game Pudsey established a 3-2 lead with Nicole playing against Declan Mccready in the last game. Declan raced into 2-0 lead but Nicole fought back to level the match 2-2 but finished out losing narrowly in the fifth end. With both sides equal on sets Market Rasen were declared the winners on count back.  Nicole showed she was a match for the boys finishing as the top Pudsey B team player with eight wins from ten.

Pudsey’s A team consisted of Vishal Dattani, Tom Fell and Matthew Hull. In the opening match they faced champions elect Rotherham and went down 5-1. Vishal winning the one but in a thrilling game lost his other one 15-13 in the fifth. Pudsey drew two of their games against Bradford Fastbat’s A and Sheffield. They also scored two close victory’s 4-2 against Keighley Oakbank and Bradford Fast bats B team. Top individual player was Vishal winning eight out of his ten games played as the team finished a creditable third place for their first season in division one.
