Pudsey Girls Reach National Finals

Pudsey Table Tennis club top two girls Ellen Auty and Nicole Finn were in action at Richmond Hill on Sunday at the County Trials. Both girls having qualified in first place in the under 13 and under 15 Events regional trials were expected to make progress. Ellen Auty qualified in second place and Nicole in third place to go the English National finals in Grantham in April.

It was British League this weekend and Pudsey’s two teams were in action at Grantham. The first team lying in second place started with a draw but then crashed 6-2 to leaders Glasgow Drumchapel. On the Sunday they won their opening match against Sunderland 5-3 but were held to a draw by Hull. Joanna Roberts being Pudsey’s top individual performer with 7 wins from 8 played.
The second team had won their opening match over Matlock 5-3 thanks to a brace of wins from James Atkins. They lost the next two matches by the same score to Uxbridge and Ormesby. They finished off in style with an 8-0 rout of the Isle of Man.

In the Leeds League this week there were three Pudsey derby clashes with the two in division two going the way of the lower team . Pudsey C lost 6-4 to the F team and the E team beat the D team by the same margin. In division 6 the J team saw off the L team 8-2 with 11 year old Edward Hollingsworth winning one on his senior team debut.
