Pudsey Players Represent Yorkshire Senior Team
A quartet of Pudsey players were part of Yorkshire senior first team competing at Draycott this weekend. Representing Yorkshire in the men were Richard Smith and Simon Noutch joined by Luke Carrington from Hull. Pudsey provided both women players in Joanna Roberts and Sarah Noutch.
On Saturday Yorkshire made a great start winning their opening match against Derbyshire 2nds 9-1. Warwickshire and Northumberland were both dispatched by the same score line of 8-2. In the final match Yorkshire were made to fight all the way by Cleveland but with 2 wins for Roberts and one each for each player they got home 6-4.
Sunday morning first match Yorkshire faced old rivals Lancashire and in thrilling match it finished with honours even at 5-5. Yorkshire had chances to win this match with two of their games lost close in the fifth end. Another dramatic match against Leicestershire followed and Yorkshire again finished with a draw. In the last match of the weekend they returned to winning ways with a 6-4 win over neighbours South Yorkshire. Joanna was the star individual player for Yorkshire winning thirteen out of her fourteen games.
Yorkshire finished runners up to Cleveland on sets even though they had beaten them. The draw against Lancashire proving costly as Cleveland strengthen their team with the inclusion of England number one Paul Drinkall, won all their games on Sunday.
Pudsey top two local league teams both won this week. In Leeds the A team cruised to a 9-1 win and in Bradford the A team won 7-3 this leaves both teams at the top of their respective divisions. |
