Pudsey Schools Hat Trick
Pudsey Table Tennis club juniors had a terrific day at the West Yorkshire Schools individual championship in Bradford on Saturday. Pudsey had four players playing in three age categories of under eleven, under 13 and under 16 boys.
In the under eleven boys Neil Dattani progressed through his group comfortable to the final. In the final he faced James Celare from Bradford and in a hard fought final Neil led 10-7 in the fifth end but as nerves set in James levelled it to 10-10. Neil then took the next two points to win 12-10 and the title.
Neil’s elder brother Vishal was competing in the under13 age group where he progressed through to the semi-final to play against fellow Pudsey player Matthew Hull. Vishal over came Matthew 3-0 to set up a final against Liam Chipman from Bradford. Liam took the first end but in a thrilling and entertaining game Vishal took the next three ends to take the title.
In the under sixteen boys Danny Beech from Pudsey was the most experienced player and number one seed. Danny’s class showed as he powered his way to winning the boys championship with out dropping an end. All three boys now go to the England Schools Finals on the 26th April at the Doncaster Dome.
