New Year Table Toppers
The Leeds League Tables to start the New Year shows the familiar sight of Pudsey A team at the top of division one. With a perfect start of ten wins from ten matches and only ten sets dropped the defending champions are already five points clear. In the individual averages Simon Pugh and Rich Smith lie equal second having only dropped two games apiece. In Division one the B team lies in a comfortable mid table positions. Last year’s div 2 champions Pudsey C lie at the bottom along with the D team are both finding life in this division tough.
In Div two the E team are currently occupying second spot thanks to some good all round individual performances. Division 3 sees the F team surprisingly just above the relegation positions.
In division 4 the unbeaten G team are on top by two sets over Acre farm rovers with the F team currently third one point behind. These positions could easily have been reversed as in the last match before Christmas the G team had a fought victory 7-3 over the F team. John Ainley from the G team leading the Individual averages with Gareth Wetherill from the H team in fifth.
The I team are going well in division five just outside the promotion places but with Maurice Wrigley 6th in the individual averages a push for promotion in the new year is a strong possibility.
Division six sees the J team with the new Pudsey youngsters playing in the League currently occupying fourth spot.12 year old Edward Hollingsworth currently 10th in the individual averages is showing some of the adults that he is one to watch out for in the second half of the season. The K team are in mid table and it is good to see that Bryn Gaines back playing in the league after a time away due to injury occupying 9th in the averages.
In Division Five the I team produced a 7-3 victory over Leeds Judean in their fight to avoid relegation thanks to three wins for Carol Judson and she combined with Kingsley Smith to take the all important doubles.
