At the finals night this week the mixed doubles left over from the Leeds Closed was played and it was youth over experience that triumphed. Nineteen year old assistant regional county coach Chris Parker paired with 13 year old Nicole Finn came through a five end battle in the first mach against the Yorkshire veteran pair of Doug Bartle and Sandra Rider. They came back from 2-0 down over father and daughter pair of Dave Noutch and Sarah Noutch to win 3-2. In the final they faced veterans Ray Rider and Linda Sanderson who had accounted for the number one seeds Roberts and Orange. In a thrilling game which swung both ways the youngsters got home again 3-2 with Finns tight serve and Parkers dominate forehand the deciding factors.
