Top Start for Pudsey Teams
Pudsey A team of Joanna Roberts, Simon Pugh and Richard Smith after three weeks of the Leeds League season look like they are well on the way to being League champions. The A team with three wins from three have only been challenged by the Pudsey B team when Chris Parker surprisingly beat both Simon and Joanna and took Richard to a fifth end.
In Division 4 the Pudsey G team of John Ainley, Linda Sanderson, Tom Sampson and Nicole Finn have emulated the A team with three straight wins. In Division 2 the D team have also put themselves in an early promotion position with five points out of six.
It was the start of the National Cadet League in Bradford this week and with a team in each of the two divisions it was an opportunity to see some of Pudsey future young players. For the A team Edward Hollingsworth was in fine form in the opening match winning all three as Pudsey beat Bradford Fast bats A 5-4. The A team then lost 6-3 to Hull with One win each for Hollingsworth, Matthew Hull and Ellen Auty. In their last match they suffered a 5-4 lost Oakbank. Nicholas Beech in his first ever match for Pudsey won all three of his games as the B team won 7-2 over Oakbank B. The B team of Tim McDonald, Reece Bell and Ellen Auty in their last match won 9-0 over Bradford Fastbats.
Pudsey’s top two juniors James Atkins and Nicole Finn making her debut for the Yorkshire Junior First team were in action at County Junior Premier weekend in Cippenham. Yorkshire suffered two opening defeats 9-1 with Nicole winning the only one in each match. In the final match Yorkshire beat Derbyshire 6-4 with a brace of wins from James.
