Crunch Game Victory

The top of the table clash in Division One featured Pudsey A against Dewsbury A. With Dewsbury unbeaten this season and Pudsey only having lost once this season in the away fixture at Dewsbury it was a must win game for Pudsey. Richard Smith got Pudsey off to a great a start with a scintillating five set win over Richard Lightowler. Simon Noutch cruised to a three set win over Steve Crosby and Joanna Roberts then gave Pudsey a 3-0 lead with another five set win over Tony Bottomley. Noutch increased the lead to 4-0 before Dewsbury took the doubles. Smith then beat Bottomley to at least ensure the draw and Roberts demolish Crosby to ensure Pudsey victory. Richard Smith proved his class and top of the average status winning all three to give a Pudsey a winning score of 7-3.

Sandra Rider back from her winning trip at the Vets tournament in Hereford battled in vain in the clash of youth against experience in the top of the table clash in Division Three. With both teams unbeaten in the league it was always going to be a tight match. With early results alternating till the scores were 3-3 a draw looked a likely result. Then 14 year old Danny Beech got the better of Dave Clarke by three sets to one to give the E team a 4-3 lead. Rider having played well to win her opening two games found James Atkins too hot to handle as the youngster powered to a 3-0 win. With Nicola Smith winning a hard fought game over Linda Sanderson and the E team picking up the doubles a 7-3 victory was achieved for the E team. This leaves the E team top of the league on sets over the F team.
