Dattani Brothers Keep Up Tradition
Pudsey Table Tennis club has a reputation of being a family club and two brother’s Neil and Vishal Dattani where at the forefront of this tradition this week. This week 10 year old Neil made his Leeds League Debut to compete against adults in division 6 against the Billetmen. He lost his first game in four in a hard fought match against Brian Phillips. Neil then won his next match in four and then faced Geoff Thompson who is currently 8th in the divisional averages. Neil showed composure beyond his years as he played an outstanding game of topspin and flat hitting to win in four games. Older brother 11 year old Vishal having played in division 6 last year had made such good progress that he had been put in division four this year. In his first match he turned out for the H team against the I team. He made a dream start winning his first match over the experienced Peter Dawson with an impressive range of shots. With the I team a player short Vishal then faced Tom Sampson and in an epic struggle Tom got home 11-7 in the fifth. Pudsey H won the match 7-3 and continued their unbeaten start to the season. Both brothers have recently competed in the Yorkshire county trials recently at Scarborough. Vishal was runner-up in the U13 boys event and Neil finished 3rd in the U11 boys and both will join their South Yorkshire counterparts in the regional trials at Halifax on 1st December. |
