Four Wins from four starts

Pudsey Table Tennis Club Senior side made a fantastic start in the first weekend of their British League campaign.  Their first match against the much fancied Hull St Marys was top drawer.  Man of the match Chris Parker at No 2 lead the way winning both games as did Pudsey No 1 David Smith with Lee Orange and Chris Newsome both adding one set each in their 5-3 win but Parker's win over the more experienced Hull No 1 and defender Julien Gittens was a joy to watch as the attacking flair of the young Pudsey player took him home 15-13 in the 5th.

In the next match Pudsey found things a bit easier as they overpowered the Isle of Man 8-0.  Sunday saw Pudsey put to the task once more when they took on Chesterfield but with Smith and Parker in good form taking 2 each and Newsome and Rider adding one each Pudsey ran out 6-2 winners.

In the last match of the weekend Pudsey took on arch rivals Rotherham Scorpions and as Pudsey took the first 3 sets with one from Smith, Parker and Rider, they looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory but Rotherham hit back taking the fourth set to make the score 3-1 but Smith showed his class by destroying the Rotherham No 1 three straight to give Pudsey at least a draw.  Rotherham's Cattell then beat Rider but Parker came through a long nervy 5 ender against Arliss to give Pudsey a well deserved victory.
