Junior British League Qualification Tournament
Pudsey’s top junior boys came back from there summer break early to compete for a place in the Junior British which is the premier club competition for boys in the country.
Qualification was in groups with the group winner qualifying for entry into the league. In their opening match the boys faced London Wembley TTK and with Daniel Adams winning the opening match the team progressed to an opening victory 5-1. Southampton west were the next opponents and a comfortable 6-0 Victory was achieved. With the effect of other results Pudsey had only to draw there last game to win the group.
York Gardens from London knew they had to win against Pudsey and there number one player Aaron Mckibbon took the opening match against Adams. Pudsey looked in deep trouble in the second match with Ross McFadyen 2-1 down in games but a brilliant recovery saw Ross come home 11-9 in the fifth end to level the match score at 1-1. With Adams winning his next match this left James Atkins to achieve the draw. James cruised to a 3-0 win over York Gardens' number three and the position of group winner’s. With the pressure off, Pudsey finished 4-2 victors and unbeaten on the day and with all three boys winning five from six games played.
Last year saw Pudsey’s men team establish themselves in the senior men’s British League and now the junior development achievements are helping establishing the club as one of England’s top table tennis clubs.
