Pudsey Cadets Fail To Win

Pudsey Table Tennis club cadets playing in the Junior British League at the weekend in Wolverhampton failed to win a game.  Pudsey operated a rotating squad system of Danny Beech, Daniel Adams, James Atkins, and Ross Mcfadyen. They made a reasonable start drawing the opening match against Hollington. Another 3-3 draw followed against Sheffield then a close defeat to Bedford 4-2. Sunday morning brought first a 5-1 defeat by the Irish and then another narrow lost 4-2 to Southampton. In many of the games the team had opportunities to win and failed to capitalise on them losing games from winning positions. It was the boys first season at this higher level and if they are going to compete successfully in future they need to play more aggressively.

In the League this week the top teams all produced winning score lines. The A team got the better of the C team 9-1 to stay top of division one. The battle between the E and F team for Division 3 continues to run, both teams having convincing 8-2 victories. In this title race Pudsey G scored an impressive 9-1 win over third place Depuy. This leaves the title battle down to the E and F team. In division six the J team maintained there position at the top with also an 8-2 victory over Armley.

Pudsey senior players Richard Smith, Nicola Smith, Sarah Noutch and Simon Noutch were part of the Yorkshire county first team playing in Nottingham on Sunday. They helped Yorkshire to a draw over champions Durham and a hard fought 6-4 victory over Nottingham.
