Pudsey Cadets Flying Start

It was the start of the National cadet League on Sunday in Wath-on Dearne. Last year’s Division two winning team of Vishal Dattani, Tom Fell and Matthew Hull moving up a division. With the growing expansion of the club both in numbers and quality Pudsey entered a second team for the first time.

In their opening match the first team accounted for Sheffield 4-2 and followed up with a hard fought draw against the Rotherham Scorpions including a good win for Fell over Scorpions number one. Two victories were achieved 4-2 and 5-1 against Bradford Fastbat’s and Scunthorpe respectively. This left the side unbeaten going into the last match against Keighley. After Pudsey taking an early lead through Vishal in the match, Keighley rallied to lead 3-2 going into the last match. Matthew found his best performance of the day to win his last match 3-0 to give Pudsey a share of the spoils. Vishal being top individual performer with nine wins out of ten.

The second team consisted of Wayne Pattison, Jack Taylor and Neil Dattani all making their debut for Pudsey in the cadet league. The team got of to a flying start with an 8-1 victory over Market Rasen. Next followed Sheffield Dragons and only their number one player managed to beat both Jack and Neil as Pudsey won 7-2.  In the last match against Sheffield the boys rounded off the day in style with an 8-1 victory. Jack and Wayne sharing the individual averages with eight wins from nine played.
