You Are Never Too Old

You are never too old, that’s the motto of the latest Pudsey Table Tennis Club team which is made up of mainly novice mature players battling it out in the local Leeds Table Tennis League.  Although they are finding the going tough in division 6 they are thoroughly enjoying their weekly matches.

The oldest team member and the only one with previous experience is 74 year old Margaret Waterhouse who returns to the sport some 25 years after playing her last match.  Margaret once played for England in an international for deaf players.  Alongside her are two crown green bowlers and a golfer who have never played league table tennis before but each week they look to their league matches with the same keen competitive edge as the younger Pudsey players.

In the league this week the four teams that were unbeaten proved that they were still the form team with some impressive victories. In division 3 the E team won 10-0 but the F team were made to fight all the way by YMCA winning the last game 9 in the fifth to give a 6-4 victory. The H team in division 4 won 8-2 and the J team in division 6 cruised to a 9-1 victory to establish themselves at the top of the league.
